The study of ancient Indian Vedic culture reveals the fact that water management was done with large and upgraded methods. According to mythological beliefs, the term water is derived from 'Nara' (Purushtraparbrahra). Hence, its ancient name is 'Nar'. It lives only in 'Nara'. Therefore, that ‘nar’ is called Narayan. According to Vishnu Purana, the first name of Brahma, the creator of the world, is 'Narayana' and in other words, the watery form of God is the reason for the origin of the world. 'Water is life' that's why it becomes even more important to stop the wastage of water and commence proper management of water in sufficient quantities. The research paper presented is an explanation of the water management works done during the Vedic period. Man has completely forgotten this perfect formula that if there is no water, creatures or life will be nothing; whereas even today in India, various systems of water conservation and sustenance can be seen here and there and it can be liberated from the current environmental problems by adopting the same dimensions with minor changes. In Vedic period, water management was done from both natural and artificial sources. Therefore, it becomes necessary to study the code of conduct of water management of Vedic period and the discovery of modalities for its implementation. In fact, the axis of any nation's economy is drinking water and irrigation management, which is the basic subject of water management, because agriculture, industrial and technological progress depends on it.
