It is necessary to have a national spirit among the people for social upliftment and happiness in society; because national sentiment increases the area of individual’s harmony, which puts his narrow self-interest aside. Consequently, crime, disbelief, hatred, discord all cease and he expands his beliefs to the level of 'Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam'. It happened in the Vedic period, that is why there were signs of happiness and peace everywhere. In the Vedic period every human was charged with national spirit. At that time humans used to give adequate importance to spiritual progress along with material gains. In fact, he was full of contemplation, that is why he was a nationalist. Vedas are the primary source of this national spirit. The word 'Rashtra' used in the Vedas represents the entire planet. To know the national sentiment in Vedic poetry, it is necessary to know the etymology of the word nation. The word 'Rashtra' means 'land', 'country' and 'district' by adding the suffix 'Shtran' by joining the word Shaktarthak state metal. Culture, civilization, philosophy, religion, pilgrimage, forests, mountains and rivers, etc of that country are accepted only under the country. Although the term country makes sense of the nation, there is something unique in the original meaning of the country and the nation. Where the land bound in the physical boundary of the mountains, seas and rivers is called a country, while that country becomes an emblem of spirit from the administrative point of view, it incorporates universality, universalism and freedom, then it is called a nation. The four Vedas and other Vedic texts depict an adequate form of national feeling. Then the man considered the whole earth as his mother and himself as the son of the earth, dealing with this wide thought, he was full of brotherhood with each animal. Thus peace was everywhere across that period. The Vedic national sentiment is very relevant in today's era of catastrophic and narrow selfishness. By the determination of this spirit, an individual can become a human in the true sense, so that by living a humane life, he will not only become the crown jewel of the creation and guide everyone, but will also become evidently important in the establishment of peace on the whole earth.
